On 27th February 2023, a group of Junior College 2 students from Raffles Christian School Pondok Indah visited 5EyesFarm, located in Kebun Mata Lima, Bogor. The farm is not your typical agricultural farm, as it operates as a resource center that develops sustainable and simple methods and practices through integrated projects. The founders, Danti Tarigan and Jonathan Wright, are both sustainability practitioners and passionate about creating healthy food, recycling, and minimizing the carbon footprint. They aim to create small-scale, manageable models to improve the production of a wide range of natural foods while using waste to help the processes.
The objective of the learning journey was to provide the students with relevant knowledge on sustainable living practices, understand the impact of their carbon footprint, and learn ways to minimize it through recycling and restorative farming practices. Additionally, the learning journey sought to foster compassion and active involvement in the community around them to make the world a better place.
Overall, the visit to 5EyesFarm was an eye-opening experience for the students. They learned about sustainable farming practices and the importance of reducing waste and minimizing their carbon footprint. The farm’s integrated projects served as a model for future food solutions, and the founders’ passion for sustainability was inspiring. The learning journey was a success, and the students left the farm with a newfound appreciation for sustainable living practices and a desire to make a positive impact in their communities.
